Another big argument for switching from smoking to vaping is the cost. You buy a device that you use for months, if not years. Then there are the coils. And then, of course, the liquids.
That saves you a lot. With average consumption, about half of what you used before. But it can be much cheaper
An example with empirical values, just so that the interested beginner can imagine: 10ml of finished liquid currently costs an average of 5 francs. If you add up all the accessories, including bottles etc., for a single use and then work out how much liquid you get out of it, you get a price of less than 60 Rppen.
That should be enough to convince you.
However, experienced mixers know that it has another unbeatable advantage. Most manufacturers and retailers who offer liquids also offer the flavors for them. What's more, they usually offer many more flavors than ready-made liquids. Mixing your own flavors gives you a much wider spectrum, a much greater range. You can also experiment a lot more because you can put together your own flavors.
A new universe opens up.
Beginners have inhibitions - wrongly
Unfortunately, many beginners have an inhibition to deal with it. Which is completely understandable.
You can see mixing instructions in YouTube videos, filmed in tiled rooms that look like the butcher's in the capitalistically liberated zone. You read about menthol crystals from the pharmacy and propylene glycol in 5 liter canisters. And everyone immediately thinks rocket science.
That's nonsense! And completely unnecessary to begin with.
It's very simple, very quick and can be done by anyone who doesn't have ten thumbs. And can do the rule of three and percentages reasonably well.
The ingredients
You need a base. You can get this in the Vapestore online store.
bases are available in different compositions. The basic ingredients are always PG, VG and possibly nicotine.
PG is the flavor carrier. The more PG, the more flavor. Many finished liquids contain 70% PG and more. This is because the manufacturer saves on expensive flavors.
PG is also responsible for the hit in the throat. This is why some liquids are perceived as scratchy.
VG is responsible for producing a nice, dense vapor. And it is more viscous than PG. That's why it's better to use more VG in vaporizers with a higher output.
That's why it's recommended to start with a 50/50 base.
At least German manufacturers don't differ greatly in this respect. This is because the ingredients used usually have a purity of 99.5%. This is the golden number, because from then on it is considered "chemically pure" and is also approved for medical use.
Typical base with nicotine
As with the finished liquids, the nicotine content is usually divided into steps of six. So 0mg, 3mg, 6mg, 12mg, 18mg and 24mg. Simply take the strength that you have also used in the liquids.
Nicotine is not as dangerous as is always said. Choose a little too much rather than too little. It's better to have a nicotine flash once than nothing at all and go back to smoking a cigarette.
What you then need, of course, is the flavoring. There are no limits to your imagination.
The flavors are all approved as food additives by reputable manufacturers. As a rule, they can even be used for baking. Freaks also like to experiment with flavors for ice cream parlors or yogurts, but there are also manufacturers who generally sell flavors without a specific use.
But you don't need all that. Just have a look around in an online store or ask the store of your choice for advice on what they have. Of course, there are not only individual flavors, but also special creations from individual manufacturers. Anyone who has already found a favorite liquid is sure to find a flavor to mix themselves.
The recommended dosage of the flavors is either written directly on the bottles or can be found online at retailers and manufacturers. Roughly speaking, it is always around 10%. With a 10ml bottle of flavor you can therefore get 100ml of liquid.
You will need something to measure and a container for the mixing itself. You can of course use an old preserving jar and a measuring cup.
We recommend 50 ml bottles and a 5 ml syringe to start with.
That's all. Vape ON!
